Nottingham Forest, Chelsea agree loan for Andrey Santos — reports

Andrey Santos impresses Pochettino - BBC Sport

Tough assignment for the 19-year-old midfielder

Nearly every time we’ve seen Andrey Santos play, be that for Brazil U20, Vasco, or for us this preseason, he’s shown why Chelsea plunked down the millions to pluck him out of the Brazilian second division in January. It’s not often that a teenager can consistently control the midfield in a senior game, but he’s already shown he’s well capable of that!

And while he won’t get to keep showing that for us this year, he won’t be going too far — certainly not by his globe-trotting standards. According to The Times and then Fabrizio Romano, the 19-year-old will be joining Nottingham Forest on loan for the season.

It will be just a straight-up loan without any future considerations. And since it’s a domestic loan, it also won’t fall under FIFA’s reduced loan allowance.

Santos will have plenty of competition at Forest, all other, all more established. Challenge, accepted.

Nottingham Forest agree loan deal to sign Andrey Santos, here we go! He’s joining until June from Chelsea, set to be completed #NFFC Medical tests to be scheduled soon, as called by The Times. No option to buy clause, as he’s key part of Chelsea future.

Steve Cooper addresses Brennan Johnson latest amid Chelsea and Tottenham transfer links

Brentford have already seen club-record offer rejected for Welsh international

Forest could sign 30 new players by selling Brennan Johnson, but his ability will be cherished

steve Cooper insists it is business as usual with Brennan Johnson despite fervent transfer speculation.

Chelsea have discussed a move for the Nottingham Forest forward as they hunt for more attacking signings, while Brentford saw a club-record offer of £40m rejected earlier this summer.

Tottenham have also been linked with the Wales international, who impressed during his first season at Premier League level last year.

Johnson scored eight goals and registered three assists in 33 starts last season as Forest managed to secure their top-flight status despite a turbulent season.

While any sale of their academy graduate would prove vastly unpopular amongst their fans, Forest are tempted to balance the books after spending around £150m on 27 players last season.
