Palma is reportedly favouring a moe to Parkhead over big money offers from Saudi Arabia.

Celtic are set to offer Luis Palma eight times his current salary to make him their latest signing.

The Aris winger is the subject of a £3.5million bid from the Scottish champions and is keen to make the move from Greek Super league outfit Aris. He sat out training this week and is expected to miss their clash with Lamia on Sunday. Two clubs in Saudi Arabia are also chasing the Honduran, who was linked with Rangers earlier this summer.

And despite Greek outlet Gazzetta claiming that Palma being able to boost his bank balance by £1million per year if he opts to take the Saudi offer, his preference is to remain in Europe, making the Hoops favourites to land the wide man. The report states Celtic are poised to pay him over £500,000 per year (around £11,000 a week), which in itself is a massive jump from his current £70,000 salary in Greece.
But both are dwarfed by the cash on offer in the Gulf. Palma could bank £1.6million a year tax free if he follows the trend of players heading for the desert for life changing sums if money.

But the lure of Champions League football and prospect of winning trophies under Brendan Rodgers appears to have proved more tempting than the riches on offer further afield. A deal is complicated by the player’s complex ownership structure,. however. Aris own 50 per cent, with the player’s agent and former club Deportivo Vida splitting the difference.
