Dean Henderson gives emotional interview after Man Utd exit
Dean Henderson bids farewell to Manchester United after signing a five-year deal with Crystal Palace on a permanent basis in
the final day of the transfer window, ending a 12-year spell with the Red Devils. Despite being a highly-rated Premier League keeper, Henderson was never likely to get much game time at Old Trafford due to the signings of Andre Onana and Altay Bayidir from Inter and Fenerbahce respectively. Speaking to MUTV after his departure from the club, Henderson expressed his gratitude to the club he had first joined as a 14-year-old academy player. “This club is everything to me,” he said. “I moved away from home when I was 14 years old to pursue my dream of playing at Manchester United and, thank God, I made it happen. That’s something I will always remember and carry with me.”
I have been a fan of the club since I was a boy. I have worked my way up the ranks and have grown to love the club. There have been ups and downs over the years, but I have a lot of fond memories here and I am delighted to be leaving on a high note. I have always dreamed of wearing the shirt and playing at Old Trafford, European level, FA Cup, Carabao and, of course, in the Premier League. It was something I wanted to do from an early age. It will be a sad day for me to leave. As a result of his departure, Henderson will now become Palace’s number one and could make his first-team debut on Sunday when Palace host Wolverhampton Wanders.
