In the final weeks of the transfer window, we saw Brighton & Hove Albion failing in their quest to sign Valentin Barco from Boca Juniors.

Multiple reports said both the player and his club wanted him to stay there until the end of the year to continue their pursuit of the Copa Libertadores title, and wouldn’t focus on the negotiation at this time.

Now according to reports on ESPN, relayed by Bolavip, December will be the end of the line for Barco at Boca Juniors, as they’ll move to sell him at the end of the South American season.

That will give Brighton another chance to sign him.

The first claims were made by Martin Costa, who said there are a couple of bids on the table already.

“If they agree on the number, they will sell him at the end of the year. There are two offers.

“Boca won’t be able to resist at the end of the year. Now they can because the boy made the decision to stay, the Brighton thing was solved. It seems to me that in December there is no turning back.”

Now Brighton should watch out for the competition from the Premier League. That’s because Manchester City had already been linked to the fullback, and when talking about the potential destinations, journalist Augusto Cesar claimed it’s more likely he’ll join a ‘top Premier League club’.

Brighton’s previous offer for Barco was US$9m, and we shall see if they’ll improve on that.
