Just in: West Ham tips to sign £50 million Premier League striker

Brentford striker Ivan Toney should join West Ham United in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood who has named West Ham as a good fit for Ivan Toney.

Interestingly, West Ham were linked with a move to sign the 27-year-old Brentford striker last season, but he remained with the west London outfit in the end.

However, Hammers boss David Moyes may now have his eye on the forward once again. He is currently serving an eight-month ban after admitting 232 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules (Sky Sports), and that ban still has four months left to run.

Toney wants to leave the Bees and could cost around £50 million according to Fabrizio Romano. That’s an awful lot of money but Tim Sherwood thinks he would suit West Ham to a tee…

West Ham should sign Ivan Toney

Tim Sherwood was a guest on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday today (September 23rd, 1:25pm).

And he responded when asked which club should sign Toney this summer:

“I think West Ham. I think he is a perfect David Moyes player.”

I think that the 27-year-old hitman would be absolutely perfect for the Hammers – what an incredible signing he would be.

However, it is highly unlikely that we’ll be spending that kind of money on a striker – especially not in January.

I would absolutely love Ivan Toney at West Ham, but there’s no chance of us signing him in my opinion.

I believe that Moyes will try to sign a striker next summer, but it’s more likely that he’ll sign someone from abroad or the Championship.

Newcastle United Are Eyeing A £52m Move For This West Ham Star: Should Howe Snap Him Up?

In a recent report, The Daily Mail claimed that Newcastle United are eyeing a £52m move for West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta this January. It has been stated that Magpies are eager to acquire the services of the Brazilian midfielder in the winter transfer window.

Paqueta’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Premier League

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a decent campaign at the London Stadium thus far as he has produced some impressive displays for them in the Premier League. Paqueta has netted one goal and secured one assist in five appearances for the Hammers this season in league football.

The Paqueta-born sensation has been a reliable performer for West Ham and has done well to average 4.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.4 shots, 1.4 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in Premier League football.

He has even been accurate when interchanging possession with his teammates after completing 77.1% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

Paqueta’s current deal at the London club will expire in the summer of 2027. Therefore, the Magpies will have to make a convincing offer if they want to recruit him this January.

Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Paqueta Up?

The Long Read: Lucas Paquetá | West Ham United F.C.

Paqueta can do a little bit of everything in the middle of the park as he is a solid tackler of the ball and can make some important interceptions for his team. He doesn’t hesitate to put his foot through the ball when required and can even engineer a few clear-cut chances for his teammates up top.

The Brazilian midfield ace can strike the ball with venom from long range and is a good dribbler with the ball as well. He has mainly operated in the number ten position for West Ham this season but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so.

Paqueta would no doubt enhance the quality of Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe’s first XI. He will also help the Magpies challenge across all fronts in the coming years.

At 26, Paqueta will only get better with each season, so the Tyneside club would be wise to go all out to snap him up during the January transfer window.
