Martindale backs up his “guarantee” assertion with “three or four” Rangers stars.

According to Livingston manager David Martindale, “three or four” Rangers players agreed to Willie Collum that he was incorrect to allow Abdallah Sima’s opening stand at Ibrox.

The Premiership opponent was enraged when the Senegalese attacker’s well-placed opening in Rangers’ 4-0 defeat at Ibrox was allowed to stand.

Abdallah Sima robbed Jamie Brandon on the edge of the Livingston box before curling home to send Rangers into the League Cup quarter finals at Ibrox.

David Martindale also thinks he can “pretty much guarantee” that if the roles had been reversed, Livingston would not have been awarded a goal against Rangers.

“The first goal is the game changer when you go away to Ibrox, Parkhead, the big clubs, it’s really, really difficult,” David Martindale said following Rangers’ defeat.

“The first goal changes the game’s dynamic, and it is a foul on Jamie.” It’s a flagrant foul, and I can say more online than I can on TV.

“I’m not going to say who I spoke to, but I spoke to three of four Rangers players, and they all said the same thing: ‘can’t believe the goal was given, can’t believe it wasn’t a foul.'”

Rangers were off to a good start with to an Abdallah Sima goal, and the club would go on to win by four clear goals thanks to efforts from Ridvan Yilmaz, Luiyi de Lucas (OG), and Ryan Jack.

While David Martindale may be upset, the goal has echoes of the disallowed Kemar Roofe goal against Celtic a few weeks ago.

And if the referees union was trying to balance the score, they shouldn’t have bothered.

Don Robertson had previously done his part when a just goal – much softer than this one – was wiped out at Ibrox.
