McKenna: Difficult Choice for Skipper’s Replacement

Town manager Kieran McKenna says he faces a difficult decision in replacing suspended skipper Sam Morsy against Huddersfield on Saturday.

The Egyptian international received his fifth yellow card of the season in the Blues’ 4-3 triumph over Blackburn on Saturday and will be forced to sit out the trip to West Yorkshire.

“It’s a tough decision, but in a good way,” McKenna explained. “We have a lot of midfielders available who could definitely play the position.”

“Lee [Evans] has most frequently played that position, Dominic Ball is very good in that position, Massimo [Luongo] can move across to that position, Cam Humphreys has been playing very, very well in midfield, and Jack Taylor is settling in really well and performed really, really well the other night and is getting stronger.” That was just a thought.

“Marcus Harness played midfield in pre-season and performed admirably, so we have a very strong and versatile squad with players who can fill a variety of roles.”

“It’s good to have those options, better to have those options than be struggling to think of a player who could step into Samy’s position in midfield this weekend.”
