Brighton’s star is expected to land a ‘dream’ transfer, with a £50 million bid currently on the table.

A £50 million deal for a Brighton attacker has already been ‘laughed off,’ while one observer believes a “dream” move to Liverpool or Manchester United is on the cards.

Brighton’s recruitment team is arguably the envy of the rest of the Premier League at present. The Seagulls very rarely miss in the market and have a proven track record of signing rising young talents who go on to become household names.

Brighton are currently one half of the British transfer record. Moises Caicedo shattered the previous mark held by Enzo Fernandez (£106.7m) when joining Chelsea for £115m over the summer.

However, many publications, including one from the Daily Express, have speculated that Caicedo’s record could be broken when Evan Ferguson leaves the club.

The 18-year-old Republic of Ireland international is already a force to be reckoned with in the center of the field.

Ferguson has 14 goals in 36 games for Brighton. While that may not sound particularly impressive, keep in mind that he has regularly been utilized off the bench and is only a teenager.

Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool are all thought to be interested in Ferguson.

In fact, ESPN recently disclosed that Manchester United ‘laughed off’ a bizarrely low bid of £50 million prior to buying Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

Ferguson previously told the Athletic that he’d had many trials with Liverpool.

Ferguson said why he chose Brighton over Liverpool when he left Irish club Bohemians in 2021: “I went to Liverpool a few times.” It’s a terrific club, but you see so many guys at Liverpool fade away with no hope of breaking into the first team.

“I was thinking, ‘Do I just want to play two years of under-18s and then go to the 23s and go from there to where?’”

But with Ferguson since proving he’s more than capable of making a serious dent in the EPL, any such move to Liverpool is unlikely to see him waste away in the reserves.

Former Ireland star Richard Dunne has now backed his countryman to earn a “dream” transfer.

The former Manchester City center-back believes a move to Old Trafford or Anfield would suit Ferguson well. However, when that might happen is debatable.

“I’m sure Evan Ferguson would be delighted to play for Liverpool and Manchester United, as most Irish boys would,” Dunne (as quoted by the Mirror) remarked.

“I believe it will happen for him in the future, but he is still learning his trade at Brighton right now.”

“He’s playing in some games, resting in others, and is still growing as a player.” I’m confident Brighton will assist him in moving on when the time comes.

“When he does, he’ll have his pick of all the top clubs.” Young athletes with his versatility are uncommon. I believe it is too soon for him right now, but it won’t be long before it is time to move on.”
