CFB world reacts to Arch Manning transfer portal news
With several top teams in search of new starting quarterbacks ahead of next season, many expected that Texas Longhorns five-star freshman quarterback Arch Manning could enter the transfer portal after spending his first season at Texas behind both starter Quinn Ewers and backup Maalik Murphy. But it doesn’t look like he’s planning to leave Texas.
According to college football reporter Chris Hummer of 247Sports, Arch Manning is “perfectly happy” at Texas and is not expected to consider transferring from the program, even if starter Quinn Ewers decides to return next season.
“Obviously, Arch Manning is the name that looms above it all — everybody’s interested in Arch,” Hummer said. “Based on everything we’ve heard, Arch is perfectly happy at Texas. I think the expectation is he will be back in 2024. The real question
mark in the room is what happens with Quinn Ewers and what happens with Maalik Murphy. Matt’s reported it before, and a lot of us have been hearing similar things, about Quinn being likely to return to Texas in 2024. But you never know what happens during a College Football Playoff run. He just had the best game of his career, in the Big 12 Championship Game, and we’ll see how he plays during the stretch run for Texas. That could impact his decision.”
This is obviously big news, and the college football world had a lot to say about it on social media.
