With the transfer portal in full swing, thousands of players have flooded into the portal looking for a new opportunity.

While just about every school in the country will look to take in as many transfers as possible whether it be to add depth or find their next star, Stanford has a bit of a different process. Their academic standards don’t prevent them from taking in transfers as many people think, but they certainly don’t do them any favors.

However Troy Taylor and his staff took in six transfers during their first year on the job, and now with more time and their feet below them in Palo Alto, they have a chance to bring in even more. According to The Portal ReportStanford is one of the handful of schools that are pursuing former West Virginia and Florida State wide receiver Winston Wright Jr.

After three seasons at West Virginia, two of which saw him record over 45 catches and 550 yards totaling seven scores, Wright transferred to Florida State. He missed the 2022 season due to injuries suffered in a car wreck and was listed as a co-starter at the beginning of the 2023 season. However, he played sparingly and ended up leaving the team after five games before entering his name into the portal.

He has also reportedly received interest from programs such as Texas, Baylor, Arkansas, and Utah among others.

As a recruit, Wright was ranked as a three-star receiver and held over 20 offers. He would provide a veteran presence, and another weapon for whoever will be starting at quarterback to pair with Elic Ayomanor and Tiger Bachmeier.

DC Adam Fuller signs 3-year contract extension with FSU, receives raise

The Florida State Seminoles have had a remarkable 13-0 season, finishing undefeated as ACC Champions. The ‘Noles will now look to face No. 6 Georgia in the wake of a heated debate following a 2023 College Football Playoff snub.

A major role in Florida State’s success lay at the hands of a dominant FSU defense under defensive coordinator Adam Fuller. The Seminoles finished the regular season with the No. 6 overall scoring defense while leading the country in opponent passer rating, forcing more incompletions than passes allowed, ranking top-5 in passes allowed.

FSU recorded the most tackles for loss in ACC Championship Game history during their 16-6 win over Louisville and set a precedent for future teams.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Fuller will receive a three-year contract extension following the success of the 2023 season.

Fuller arrived at FSU in 2020 following head coach Mike Norvell from Memphis and has proven himself on the field and in the recruiting trenches. Florida State currently holds the No. 3 recruiting class according to 247Sports and boasts players like 5-star safety KJ Bolden, 4-star defensive end Armondo Blount, 4-star cornerback Charles Lester III, and 4-star corner Jamari Howard.

Florida State’s defense has allowed one touchdown in 38 possessions since quarterback Jordan Travis was injured. The Seminoles won the ACC Championship after their defense held Louisville to a season-low six points and 188 yards of total offense.
