Fans rave as Josh Cullen impresses on Burnley debut - Irish Mirror Online

Burnley midfielder Josh Cullen has committed his immediate future to the club by signing a new three-year contract.

The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international is the third man to agree a long-term deal with the promoted club this summer, following in the footsteps of Anass Zaroury and Manuel Benson.

Cullen, who followed manager Vincent Kompany from Anderlecht to Burnley, made 50 appearances in all competitions last season and was named the Clarets’ player of the year and players’ player of the year at the end of his first campaign.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m really happy to extend my time here, especially off the back of last year which was a really successful year for the club. I can’t wait to continue my career with Burnley.

“It will be great to get back to Turf Moor this weekend and be in front of the fans again and hopefully get our first three points on the board.”

If we're not in Europe ... I will be disappointed' – Shelbourne's owner Acun Ilicali his high ambitions | Independent.ie

Ambitious owner Acun Ilicali says Hull City fans can look forward to more surprises between now and the end of the transfer window next Friday evening.

Ilicali has already armed Liam Rosenior with five new players throughout the course of the summer including Aaron Connolly and Liam Delap, while Scott Twine arrived from Burnley 48 hours before City won 2-1 at Blackburn Rovers.

The Turkish businessman is preparing to ramp up his backing of Liam Rosenior by adding Aston Villa duo Jaden Philogene and Keinan Davis in a deal that could be worth as much as £6m, a deal he describes as remarkable.

Ilicali has held high-level discussions with Villa owner Nassef Sawiris and it’s understood a deal to bring 21-year-old winger Philogene is on the cusp of being sealed with the player already expressing his desire to move to the MKM Stadium.

Like with Scott Twine, City have fought off interest from clubs including Ipswich Town for the signing of Philogene with Villa boss Unai Emery making a last-ditch attempt to keep him in the second city, but the youngster’s desire to move to East Yorkshire and play regular football under Rosenior a deciding factor.
