The latest Nottingham Forest transfer news from Nottinghamshire Live as the Garibaldi Red podcast discusses Danilo’s form

Patience will be key with Danilo this season as Nottingham Forest hope the Brazilian midfielder realises his huge potential.

The 22-year-old joined Forest on a six-and-a-half year deal from Palmeiras in January and scored goals against Brentford, Brighton and Southampton. Such form saw him tentatively linked with Liverpool and Tottenham, but he has started this season with below par performances against Arsenal and Sheffield United.

Speaking on the Garibaldi Red podcast, broadcaster and Reds fan Darren Fletcher said that comes as no surprise given the drastic changes Danilo has experienced in moving to the Premier League and England. “How old is he? How many games has he played? He’s learning his trade. He’s come here from Brazil,” he said.

“At the end of last season, how good he was was surprising. I thought it would take him longer to settle. I appreciate there are South Americans in the dressing room but this is a complete life change for him. Can you imagine how difficult it is to play in the Premier League compared to the top flight in Brazil.

“I would think the only common things are the goals, the pitch and the ball. Everything else is different. He’s slotting in and he’s got to learn how he translates his game from Brazil to the Premier League on a consistent basis.

“He’s dealing with life issues, a change of culture, a change of game. The fact he did so well last season is a testament to him.

“We’re all guilty of thinking you can pick up a footballer from one country and drop them into another seamlessly. It doesn’t work like that. If we in our jobs went abroad without our families it would probably take us a year to adjust.

“Footballers are expected to do it straight away and it doesn’t work that way. He’s a young man playing a different brand of football in a different country.

“If we’re patient with him we’ve got a good player. If we don’t it’s so short sighted to think he’ll look the finished article at this stage.”

Leeds United transfer rumours amid Lewis O’Brien and Glen Kamara links

Lewis O'Brien transfer saga ends as Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest discover verdict - LancsLive

All of the latest Leeds United transfer rumours wrapped up

Here are your Leeds United transfer rumours on Wednesday, August 23.

Leeds ‘move’ for Lewis O’Brien

Leeds United are keen to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien.

That is according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, who has claimed on his Patreon page that the Whites are set to revive their interest in O’Brien this summer.

Leeds were perenially linked with O’Brien during his time at Huddersfield but he opted to join Nottingham Forest last summer. However, he has fallen out of favour with the Reds and recently spent some time on loan at MLS side DC United.

Sheffield United had previously been interested but the report claims Leeds could pull off a transfer if they pay £10 million or take O’Brien on a loan basis if they buy him on promotion.

Leeds are ‘unlikely’ to accept a loan deal from Brentford over Luis Sinisterra, according to reports.

The forward wants to leave Elland Road this summer and is currently training away from the first team with his future in the air.

However a loan deal is thought to be of little value to Leeds for a player they paid around £20m for last summer. Whether the Bees return with a cash offer remains to be seen.

Glen Kamara race

Sources: Leeds working on Glen Kamara transfer as Rangers man talks with Middlesbrough, Coventry

Leeds United are ‘pushing’ to sign Glen Kamara from Rangers, according to reports. TEAMtalk say that the midfielder has held talks with Leeds, Middlesbrough and and Coventry, but that it’s Daniel Farke’s Whites who are leading the chase.

The 27-year-old is expected to leave Ibrox this summer having fallen down the pecking order under Michael Beale.
