Manchester United eyeing a move for Brazilian Liverpool midfield target

Liverpool target and Fluminense midfielder Andre eyed by Manchester United

Liverpool's new Fabinho? Why Fluminense midfielder Andre is being linked with a move to Anfield | Goal.com

Manchester United are considering making a move for Liverpool target and Fluminense star Andre this summer, according to journalist Emmanuel Luiz (h/t Manchester Evening News).

To that end, the Red Devils have made an approach to acquire the services of the midfielder in the ongoing transfer window. The Brazilian is seen as an alternative to Sofyan Amrabat.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will be able to hijack a deal. As things stand, the Merseyside outfit are close to getting a hold of the 22-year-old’s signature.

Andre made his way through the youth ranks at Fluminense. In 2020, the defensive midfielder established himself in the Brasileirao outfit’s senior squad.

Since then, the youngster has grown from strength to strength and has become a key player for the Rio de Janeiro-based club. The Brazilian has also been handed an international cap for his national side.

Liverpool have lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabian clubs recently. In order to bolster their ranks, Jurgen Klopp’s team have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. However, they seemingly lack a natural number six.

On the other hand, United have Casemiro in their ranks. The 31-year-old has been a key player for Erik ten Hag since last season. However, we evidently lack cover for him on the bench.

Fred has left the Red Devils and joined Fenerbahce. Scott McTominay has been inconsistent over the years. Christian Eriksen is more of a number eight. Therefore, we could arguably use someone like Andre as an understudy for the former Real Madrid star.
