A Stellar Addition to the Forest Lineup
In the midst of a blazing transfer window, Nottingham Forest, a club with history embroidered in its roots, have secured an illustrious talent in Gonzalo Montiel. Fresh from etching his name into World Cup folklore, Montiel now sets his sights on English shores, ready to leave an indelible mark.

Carlos Corberan has outlined what ‘special’ Lewis O’Brien would bring to Leeds United
Leeds United have again been linked with a move for midfielder Lewis O’Brien, a player they first looked to bring in during the Marcelo Bielsa era
Leeds United’s search for reinforcements ahead of next week’s transfer deadline day have thrown up a familiar name in Lewis O’Brien.
The Nottingham Forest midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Elland Road during Marcelo Bielsa’s time in charge at Elland Road, with the Argentine keen on landing the 24-year-old, who was then at Huddersfield Town.
A move did not materialise then, but this week has seen fresh links emerge as Leeds look to add in new faces before the window shuts next Friday. The club have seen a phalanx of players leave this summer and with Daniel Farke also having to deal with a lengthy injury list, new additions are a must.
While Leeds were unable to sign O’Brien from their Yorkshire rivals a couple of years ago, the midfielder did make the move to Nottingham Forest last summer, signing for the side that pipped Town to a Premier League place in that year’s play-off final.
O’Brien would earn a glowing reference from Rooney, who echoed similar praise from Carlos Corberan, the former Leeds assistant who managed O’Brien at Huddersfield Town and saw him as a ‘special’ player.
This was evident by comments that the Spaniard made during the Terrier’s promotion tilt in the 2021-22 campaign, when he praised O’Brien’s response to a rare substandard performance against Middlesbrough by bouncing back in their next game.
“From the last game, he was not happy with his performance,” Corberan said. “And I like to say that when a player is not happy with his performance, they show the reaction that they showed (on Saturday).
“Maybe in the first half the other day, we did not see the normal level of O’Brien as he always has the habit of playing the level of the game he did (on Saturday).
“He is one player who is very special in the team and is one player who deserves everything he has achieved in football as he makes everything to achieve everything( in football).”
With Forest signing a host of players this time last year, O’Brien would find match time hard to come by and after a January loan move to Blackburn Rovers fell through at the 11th hour, he found himself left out of Forest’s 25-man Premier League squad and was subsequently loaned out to MLS side DC United, where he played under Wayne Rooney and alongside former Leeds favourite Mateusz Klich.
