Leeds United and Bayer Leverkusen close to £5million deal for Nadiem Amiri amid confusion
Leeds United and Bayer Leverkusen are close to an agreement over the transfer of Nadiem Amiri, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports reporter shared an update via his personal Twitter account (24 August), revealing that the transfer fee for the midfielder is set to be between £4.2million and £5.1million plus add-ons.
As per Kicker (24 August), the 26-year-old had originally rejected a move to Elland Road, with Marseille also interested in the German’s services.
However, an agreement was not reached between Leverkusen and the Ligue 1 outfit, and Amiri has now said yes to the Whites, agreeing on a four-year contract with the club.
Dramatic
It seems that Daniel Farke is finally going to land his man, albeit after taking a very stressful route to get to his destination. While it does feel a bit as if Leeds are Amiri’s second choice move, supporters won’t care one bit as long as he puts in 110 per cent every time he pulls on
Following a series of injuries, and departures, alongside the team’s poor start to the Championship season, they are in no position to be fussy about a player’s preference. As long as he has now agreed on the move, and a deal is close between the clubs, that is all that is important. The route taken to get there is no longer relevant.
This news comes amid developments that Joel Piroe is close to making the switch to West Yorkshire as well [Fabrizio Romano], and fans will be happy to finally see some much-needed signings coming through the door.
