Nottingham Forest ‘preparing to move forward with an offer’ for player – No1 target after other options fail
Nottingham Forest have turned their attention to Benfica goalkeeper Odysséas Vlachodimos as they continue their efforts to strengthen their goalkeeper department.
That’s according to O Jogo, who say Nottingham Forest ‘now turn to the Greek international’ after they fell behind in the race for Dean Henderson.
The newspaper explains that Benfica have opened the door for the player to leave, with the goalkeeper going through a very public falling out with manager Roger Schmidt.
While that has calmed down in the public sphere, the reality is that the Portuguese side would be happy for him to depart and are willing to ensure that happens before the window closes.
According to O Jogo’s information, Nottingham Forest are ‘evaluating targets’ to reinforce their goal and have now put Vlachodimos at the top of their list of priorities.
They’ve followed in the path laid out by Manchester United, who had shown an interest in the Greek goalkeeper as competition for Andre Onana but have instead targeted Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce.
He was also a target for Forest while the Turkish side have also signed another of their options, Dominic Livaković, so they have now focused on Vlachodimos.
He was on their list already and developments have pushed him forwards, so much so that those in charge at the City Ground are now ‘preparing to move forward with an offer’ for the player.
Director of football Rui Costa is ready to accept a deal worth €10m, knowing he has gone from first choice to third choice and would prefer to move on.
