Tottenham transfer plans could be in tatters as injury fears may put paid to £50m deal
Tottenham have been linked with Nottingham Forest star Brennan Johnson.
Tottenham’s reported £50million transfer pursuit of Brennan Johnson might hit the buffers due to a fresh injury concern over the Nottingham Forest winger. Johnson was taken off appearing to hold his hamstring in his side’s 3-2 defeat against Manchester United on Saturday.
Spurs have reportedly expressed an interest in Johnson, whose impressive first Premier League campaign helped Nottingham Forest stay up last season. Harry Kane’s departure has increased the need for another forward at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Johnson has emerged as a potential addition, alongside the Gent starlet Gift Orban. Spurs would reportedly need to pay a whopping £50million to sign the Englishman.
However, any possible deal might have been scuppered after Johnson was forced off against United. He was pivotal to Forest taking a shock 2-0 lead inside the opening five minutes – but hobbled off just before Bruno Fernandes made the score 3-2 in United’s favour.
Johnson was seemingly clutching his hamstring as he trudged off at Old Trafford. But there has been no confirmation over the area or seriousness of the injury.
