Kieran Tierney has started life as a Real Sociedad player by sending a nine word online message to his new support.
The former Celtic star has made the move to La Liga on a season-long loan from Arsenal as he looks to nail down consistent minutes after falling down the pecking order in North London. His switch to Spain will also hand the Scotland international the chance to play in the Champions League this season as well as get those crutial games in the legs for both the player himself and on the international scene for Steve Clarke with big games on the horizon for both club and country.
The transfer saga has been a long-running one with Brendan Rodgers and the Hoops at one point sensationally linked with the full-back – but it is Sociedad who have won the race to add him to their ranks for the upcoming campaign that has started with three draws in the league. Writing on his social media after sharing pictures in his new kit, he wrote: “Hello blue, white family. So happy to be here.”
Scotland team-mates Andy Robertson, John McGinn and Lyndon Dykes all wished their good pal all the best with his new adventure.
Robbo wrote: “Good luck KT.”
Speaking to Real Sociedad TV about his switch in more depth, Tierney said: “My first impression is so good. Everyone I meet is so friendly. The city is so nice and the stadium is beautiful as well. It’s a big change but something I’m looking forward to so much. It’s an exciting challenge and I’m delighted to be here.
“The Basque country is similar to Scotland and it’s a place I always wanted to come and visit at one stage in my life to come and have the opportunity to play for Sociedad is amazing.”
