There are still two moves that need to be completed at West Ham as the club continue their search for a new signing.

The summer transfer window proved to be a successful one for David Moyes’ West Ham side, but it looks like the east Londoners haven’t finished shopping yet. According to Football Insider sources, the Hammers are still looking to add two more players, including a striker, to their squad. Moyes has so far only had Michail Antonio to fall back on, alongside Danny Ings, after letting go of Gianluca Scambuche at the start of the window.

If either of these two front men were to suffer an injury, it would be a major blow to a club who were unbeaten in their last three Premier League games before losing to Luton on Friday. Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard continues to train with the club, and in the

absence of a new offer, it would appear at this stage that Lingard will be rewarded with a short-term deal at West Ham, where he spent 2021 on loan before opting against a permanent switch. It is unclear who could replace Scamacca at this stage, but with the season having only three games gone, it would be in West Ham’s best interest to move quickly in that regard.

Incredibly, Premier League clubs spent an extra £440m more on players than last summer, according to analysis from Deloitte.

Meanwhile England’s top-flight clubs spent almost as much as Europe’s other ‘top five’ countries combined.

But who were the biggest winners and losers from the transfer window? talkSPORT.com takes a closer look.

WINNERS

ARSENAL

They may have failed to bring in a fresh face on deadline day, but what a remarkable summer it was for the Gunners.

With Granit Xhaka departing, Mikel Arteta knew he needed to bring in a new combative midfielder, with Rice perfectly fitting the bill.

A new versatile full-back was also snapped up, with Jurrien Timber a £40m arrival from Ajax.

He dazzled in pre-season and in his first two competitive matches, before suffering an ACL injury that could keep him out for the rest of the campaign.

In addition to Havertz, £65m signing from Chelsea, Arsenal have bolstered their midfield and attack depth. Arteta insists that Havertz, who has failed to score in his first four games, will soon prove to be worth his price. On Wednesday, Arsenal stunned the footballing world by securing the loan-and-option-to-buy of keeper David Raya, who will now have real competition for Aaron Ramsdale’s number one jersey. Arsenal missed out on the title last season due to a shortage of depth, but now they have no excuse not to go for it again. West Ham It was a slow start to the signing season for the Hammers, but they have made the

most of the Rice money to bring in two stars – Edson Alvarez from Ajax ( £34m) and Mohamed Kudus ( £38m) from West Ham’s rivals Chelsea. On top of that, they have also signed a former Arsenal defender, KonstantinosMavropanos, on a one-year deal for an initial fee of £17m, while they have also made a £30m move to Southampton for James Ward Prowse.

And the England international is proving to be one of the signings of the summer having chipped in with one goal and three assists in his opening three matches.

His stunning form has helped West Ham reach the summit of the table, with the club picking up ten points from a possible 12 on offer.

And as equally important as all the incomings, West Ham also avoided selling Lucas Paqueta with Manchester City headily linked.

BRIGHTON

The Seagulls just can’t do wrong at the moment.

Not only will they be playing European football this season for the first time in their history, but they now have the squad to justify their inclusion.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side signed seven first-team players during the summer – including the acquisition of Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati on loan.

Such a transfer may have seemed impossible to Brighton fans last year, but the south coast side are a club whose trajectory is only on the way up.

Along with Fati, Brighton brought in Joao Pedro, Mahmoud Dahoud, James Milner, Bart Verbruggen, Igor and Carlos Baleba on permanent deals.

That is addition to selling Caidedo and Robert Sanchez for £115m and £25m respectively, as well as Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool in a move rising to £55m.

Everton fans may be praying for a miracle after losing their first three Premier League games of the season. After surviving two close calls to avoid relegation in the past two years, this was supposed to be the summer of big spending – especially ahead of the move to the new stadium next season. Instead, the Merseysiders have failed to deliver. Ashley Young, a 38-year-old full-back, has joined on a one-year deal, with the club also bringing on-loan striker Beto and teenage striker Youssef Cheikh N’Diaye. The club have also loaned out left-back Jack Harrison and left-winger Arun Danjuma. This leaves them with four forwards, no centre-back or midfielders, and arguably one of the most leaky defences in the league. Not to mention the sale of Alex Iwobi to Fulham on deadline day.

WOLVES

The Midlands outfit’s season was thrown into chaos before the season already started with boss Julen Lopetegui parting ways with the club after growing frustrated by a lack of transfer activity.

At the time of his dismissal, Wolves had only turned the loan spells of Matheus Cunha and Boubacar Traore into permanent stays.

Meanwhile the club had also re-signed Irish right-back Matt Doherty on a free transfer.

Not enough for a club that had sold Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins, Conor Coady and Raul Jimenez and had also released Joao Moutinho, Diego Costa and Adama Traore.

The end of the window then saw Matheus Nunes depart for Man City for £53m.

Though Wolves did make late signings of their own, with Tommy Coyle joining from the Citizens on loan, while bringing in centre-back Santiago Bueno and midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde on permanent deals.

But supporters would have been expecting more – especially with the club losing two out of their opening three fixtures.

ShEFFIELD UNITED The Blades were bound to struggle after their promotion to the top flight, but what is crucial for a newly promoted team is not to sell their best player, and that is exactly what they have done after reluctantly selling Iliman NADAYE to Marseille and Sander Berge to fellow Premier League newcomers Burnley. Fans will be delighted to see James McAtee return to the Citizens, having helped them to second-place finishes in the Championship last season. However, fans may be slightly disappointed with the permanent signings of Tom Davies, who signed on a free transfer from Coventry, Gustavo Hamer from West Bromwich Albion, Vinicul Souza from Swansea City, Auston Trusty from West Ham and Cameron Archer from Aston Villa. Just like Everton, United have also failed to win either of their first three games, and supporters seem right in their fears that the club will not survive this season.
