Seal deal: West to complete ‘sensational’ signing of player with Klagenfurt partnership deal now likely

It looks like West Ham and Klagenfurt are close to signing the “beautiful” Andy Irving!

West Ham set to seal surprise deadline day signing of ex-Hearts midfielder Andy Irving from SK Austria Klagenfurt - with deal heralding start of a partnership between the clubs

The Scottish Daily Mail has reported that West Ham have agreed a “sensational” deal to sign Klagenfurt’s Andy Irving on a “seven-figure deal” before immediately loaning him back to the Austrian outfit. The deal is believed to be the start of a new partnership between the Hammers and Klagenfurt, with players being loaned out between the two clubs to gain experience. According to the report, Irving, a former Hearts player, will join West Ham on a seven-figure deal, though neither club has yet made a formal announcement. The Austrian FA have “confirmed” the deal.

Smart business

Off the back of a 2-1 victory over Luton and an unbeaten start to the Premier League, West Ham fans will feel doubly happy with this news.

The club must see something in the 23-year-old to pay at least a million for him, but the news of this fresh partnership with the Austrian outfit could be exciting.

Sending players out on loan is, of course, beneficial for young players or talent who struggle to get regular game time for their side. With a partnership with Klagenfurt, the Hammers can make this process much more efficient.

Irving himself is the first test in this new experiment. He will be loaned straight back to Klagenfurt, so West Ham fans will have to wait until next season to see their new man in claret and blue.
