There was a transfer deal in place between Nottingham Forest and Chelsea but the Chelsea star turned it down.
Trevoh Chalobah On transfer deadline day, Nottingham Forest had a deal in place with Chelsea to sign the defender. Forest had
made an £25million bid to land him, while Tottenham and Bayern Munich were also interested. Chalobah, 24, had wanted to move to Bayern on season-long loan, but Forest had tried to hijack the deal. As for Chelsea, a move would have been difficult to make given the rivalry between the two clubs. The Blues preferred a permanent departure for a “substantial fee” instead of a loan deal. They accepted the Reds’ bid, which was said to be over £25m. Although there was a deal in place, Chalobah “appreciated the efforts” but turned it down after the move to Bayern fell through. The Reds turned their attention to Norwich defender Andrew omobamidele. Forest welcomed 13 new signings on deadline day, seven of which were: Ola Aina Anthony

Who is to blame for £88m failed Chelsea transfer as Mykhailo Mudryk blasted ‘absolutely useless’
Following Saturday’s shock 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, Chelsea have yet to find their mojo under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, with two defeats, a draw and only one win so far this season. The latest criticism has come in the wake of Saturday’s loss, with the former Shakhtar Donetsk striker signing for Chelsea from the club in January in a £88million deal. Mudryk was linked with a move to London rivals Arsenal during the January transfer window but has failed to live up to expectations since joining the club. He has yet to score for Chelsea, with just two assists, and in the 19 games he has featured, Chelsea have only won twice.
Gabby Agbonlahor described his performance against Forest as “absolutely useless”. Speaking on Talksport he said: “Mudryk came on and he nearly gave away two goals! He was absolutely useless. He’s had 19 games, zero goals and they haven’t got a style of play.”
Pochettino has been happy with the youngster, claiming that he’ll get better with time and that he has hope Mudryk will show his true potential in the near future
“Today he played 45 minutes,” Pochettino explained after the 3-1 loss to West Ham earlier this month. “I think he’s a young player who we need to trust and build these relationships with us and the team.
“He has enormous quality and talent, it’s only time for him to settle better with the team and find a way to perform in the way that we expect.”
Former Blues defender William Gallas believes Mudryk’s agent is to blame for the failed transfer so far though.
“Last season I said Mudryk was going to regret signing for Chelsea because I thought Arsenal was the club for him to express himself. I don’t know if it was his choice, the choice of his agent to go to Chelsea, or maybe Shahktar’s choice,” Gallas told Gambling Zone.
At the start of the season, Mudryk was doing well and I thought he would have a great season, but now he’s on the bench and I don’t know what’s happened. I’m sorry for the players who are in this situation. Mudryk’s agent didn’t make the right decision to bring him to Chelsea, but most of the players who have joined Chelsea have been ready to play, and if it was tough at the start, they have adjusted well. This shows that the people who were trying to bring players to Chelsea knew what they were getting into. But now it’s a bit different.
