A former Nottingham Forest player who made £120k a week is now attracting interest from Saudi Arabia
Two Saudi Arabian clubs are interested in Jesse Lingard, who was released from Nottingham Forest in July. The former Manchester United star signed a new deal with the club last summer, but after just 17 Premier League appearances and no goals, Lingard left in search of a new challenge. He has since trained with his former club West Ham United and has been working on his fitness whilst hoping to sign a short term contract with the Hammers, who are managed by David Moyes. Two Saudi League sides have been linked with Lingard, but it is unclear which clubs would want to sign him.
What next for Jesse Lingard?
It’s no secret that Lingard’s time at City Ground under Steve Cooper didn’t go to plan. Now that the former Forest star is nearing the end of his time at the club, the next step of his career is crucial. Any Saudi club would likely pay more than West Ham for Lingard, but there’s a chance he could return to the club where he was loved by fans during his loan spell last season. It’s
understood that the Hammers are ready to give Lingard a temporary deal to give him a chance to prove himself again in the top flight, but if it’s Saudi Arabia that comes calling, Lingard has the opportunity to play for love or for money.
