The PL Legend claims Holding will do well after Arsenal exist this summer
Ray Parlour, an Arsenal legend, has backed Rob Holding’s decision to leave Arsenal and join Crystal Palace on a permanent basis. “Rob Holding will do well at Crystal Palace,” Parlour said on talkSPORT. “He could be a good bargain for them at this price if he gets off to a good start.” Last summer, Holding joined Arsenal from Bolton Wanderers for a fee of £4 million. He had been struggling to get regular game time at Arsenal, so he decided to leave the club.
Parlour said about Holding. “I was sad to see Rob go because he is such a good guy for the dressing room area, but obviously, he wants to play. He has gone to Palace which is a great move for Rob. I am sure he will do a really good job at Palace.”
There is no doubt that the 27-year-old has the ability to be a solid Premier League defender in the near future. But he needed to join the club where he will be valued and he will get ample first-team opportunities. The move to Crystal Palace has come at a good time for him. and he will look to play regularly with them.
Holding is at the peak years of his career and cannot afford to waste them by sitting on the bench at Arsenal. He is versatile enough to operate as a right-back as well as a central defender. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for Palace in the coming seasons, considering Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi are popular in the market.
Arsenal have a plethora of defensive players at their disposal at the moment, and would not be able to fit Holding into the starting line-up. It was also a good move for Arsenal to sell him. The Gunners have been very active in the summer transfer market, spending a considerable amount of money. They wanted to restructure their squad, and the sale of fringe players such as Holding brought in a much-needed financial boost. Let’s see if Holding can make a name for himself at Crystal Palace by establishing himself as an important player for them..
