News Update: Nottingham Forest was desperate to bring 29-year-old this summer
During the summer, Mitos Marinakis, the son of the late Evangelos Marinakis, was keen to bring Michy to Nottingham Forest. The Reds were in talks to sign the striker on deadline day, but ended up going with Divock Origi instead. The Athletic reports
that it was Miltos, who has long been a fan of the striker, who wanted to bring him to the club. Forest had made a strong push to sign him in the past, and the boardroom wanted to try again this summer. But when Origi became available, Forest went with him instead.
Currently in Turkey with Fenerbahce, Batshuayi will stay with the club for the upcoming 2023/24 season after failing to secure a transfer during the summer transfer window. The former Chelsea and Crystal Palace striker has previously played in England, but it has been abroad where he has enjoyed the most success, scoring 20 goals in 32 games last season..
Marinakis fancied bringing Batshuayi to Forest
Currently in Turkey with Fenerbahce, he will stay there for the upcoming 2023/24 season after failing to secure a transfer during the summer. In reality, Forest have come to terms with a better player. Origi has a much better history in the Premier League, and the club were able to get him on-loan in the first place. While he may have been useful, he would likely command a hefty wage. The Reds certainly needed more goalscoring power, and it’s easy to understand why Marinakis trusts Origi to do the job. Now, Forest have moved to bolster their side with Origi, who will hope to make a right impact at his new club, leaving Forest to ponder what might have been. Having previously played in England for Chelsea and Crystal Palace, Origi has had his happiest moments in Turkey, scoring 20 goals in 32 games last season.

Nottingham Forest handed Anthony Elanga worry as injury forces winger out of Sweden squad
Nottingham Forest could be handed an injury doubt ahead of the return of Premier League football next weekend, with Sweden releasing an update over Anthony Elanga.
The summer signing, who joined from Manchester United, has enjoyed a positive start to life at the City Ground. The 21-year-old came off the bench to provide an assist for Taiwo Awoniyi in his debut against Arsenal in August.
He was then a half-time substitute in the clash at Chelsea in Forest’s last game before the international break and made an immediate impact on the game. Elanga found the net just two minutes after entering the pitch for what turned out to be the winning goal.
He will have been hoping his performances could prompt his first Premier League start for the club when Forest take on Burnley after the international break, but that has now been put into doubt.
Elanga joined up with the Sweden squad after the win at Stamford Bridge, but was an unused substitute for Saturday’s 5-0 Euro qualification victory over Estonia. He now won’t be available for Tuesday night’s qualifier against Austria after withdrawing from the squad.
In a statement, Sweden said: “Striker Anthony Elanga has left the men’s national team’s squad due to a minor injury. He was therefore not present at Sunday’s training.”
The injury the player has suffered has not been revealed, but Steve Cooper will be hoping it is not serious enough to rule the youngster out of the game against Burnley. Elanga will now return to Forest where he is likely to undergo further assessment ahead of Monday’s 7.45pm kick-off at the City Ground.
