Just in: Transfer fee from Nottingham Forest could be up to €10m – player might even earn more

Nottingham Forest confirm signing of Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos on four-year deal from Portuguese club Benfica | Daily Mail Online

Transfer to Nottingham Forest could cost up to €10 million – Player could earn even more if bonuses are triggered.

Nottingham Forest could end up paying as much as €10m for goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, and the player even more if he activates various clauses in his contract.

That’s according to Radar, who cover the player’s move to Nottingham Forest today and the figures that the Tricky Trees could end up paying for the Greek goalkeeper.

The explain that Forest owner Vangelis Marinakis ‘tried hard’ throughout the summer window to add a Greek international to their squad, the big target having been Konstantinos Mavropanos, who eventually ended up at West Ham.

When that deal went through Nottingham Forest turned their attention to Vlachodimos, who Benfica had made available after a falling out with manager Roger Schmidt.

A deal was eventually done on deadline day of the window, with the final figure announced at €4.9m and seen as ‘very favourable’ compared to what Benfica had once been demanding for the player.

However, that €4.9m may not be the final fee as ‘agents’ claim that with various bonuses and other agreed terms, the total cost of the transfer could reach €10m in the next few years.

Then there is Vlachodimos’ contract, with the same sources reporting he will earn €2.5m per year for four years, totalling €10m, although that could reach €12m if the goalkeeper hits ‘achievable bonuses’ included within it.

Thus, the deal could end up being a lot more expensive for Nottingham Forest than previously thought, albeit if things go to plan.

The Saudi Pro League and the nation’s Public Investment Fund, owners of Premier League club Newcastle United, chased Salah for Al-Idriss this past summer, and we’ll be hearing stories about Salah’s future for years to come. We’ll also be hearing stories about who Liverpool might sign next summer if the Pro League and the PIF chase Salah again, and if Salah decides he’s done chasing records in one of the top leagues. It’s no surprise, then, that outlets in Spain have started to trumpet Nico Williams, the 21-year old Athletic Bilbao right-winger (not to be confused with the 22-year old former Red and current Nottingham Forest right-winger, Neco Williams). Williams is particularly interesting because his contract is set to end at the end of this season, and
