The Hungarian international arrived on the south coast in the summer from Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar for a fee reportedly around £15.5million, Cherries fending off interest from Italian giants Lazio to secure the teenager’s signature.

Asked for his thoughts on his new surroundings, Kerkez replied: “It’s really nice.

“Nice, calm town and it’s good to be on the on the beach a little bit also.

“But I like it here. It’s like I say, it’s nice.

“And of course with the new boss that we have here, and the new philosophy was also a big impact for me to come here.”

Kerkez is quickly becoming a fan favourite for his passionate displays on the pitch, but off of it he is quickly becoming a key part of the Cherries changing room thanks to his infectious personality.

“I mean, the guys welcome me really well,” continued the Serbian-born Hungary international.

“So like they say, they feel like I’m here for four or five years already.

“It’s nice. They welcome me really well, everyone in the club. So I felt really welcomed.

“And it’s just my character. I’m free.”

Kerkez and co. return to Premier League action tomorrow afternoon (2pm), when they welcome Chelsea to Dean Court.

The Hungary international didn’t miss a minute of Premier League action as Andoni Iraola’s side drew with West Ham, before narrow defeats to Liverpool and Spurs followed shortly after.

In a close vote on Twitter, Kerkez topped the poll with 35.7%, fighting off competition from Antoine Semenyo (35.4%), Ryan Christie (17.6%) and Dominic Solanke (11.3%).

The left-back, who has been away representing his country over the last fortnight, picked up his Michael Matthews award at Vitality Stadium ahead of the game against Chelsea this weekend.

The independent jewellers, who have showrooms in Bournemouth and Fareham, are a Corporate Supporter and Supplier of the Cherries and recently renewed their partnership with the club.

As a result, they’ll continue to sponsor the Player of the Month award for another two seasons, while also attending special events at Vitality Stadium hosted by The Net.

AFC Bournemouth would like to extend its thanks to Michael Matthews for their continued support of the award.
