Ben Johnson Last night’s decision to allow Johnson to take part in the club’s under-21 side would have been difficult for him to accept. Steve Potts picked him in the starting line-up last night but it would be Moyes who would have given him the green light. He could have been in the squad for today’s game with Manchester City. With Johnson’s current deal with West Ham (salary sport) expiring next summer, I really don’t see him staying at the Stadium beyond that point. In my opinion, he should have quit the club last summer. Ben Johnson playing for West Ham’s under-21 yesterday proves that.
Some will argue that Johnson only played for the Under-21s in order to get some game time but I think he could not be further from a first team spot right now and the sooner he departs the better. Ben Johnson has been a key player for West Ham for the
past 2 years and to be dropped to the Under-21 team must be very difficult for him. It is time for him to leave the club and it is time for the club to let him go. It is possible that I am off base here and that Moyes continues to see a bright future for this 23 year old at London Stadium but I just can’t see a scenario where this is the case.
