The Coventry City Boss has provided an important contract update, emphasizing that it is as simple as it sounds.

Mark Robins, the manager of Coventry City, has declared that the club is determined to retain the services of Callum O’Hare, even though the midfielder is entering the final year of his contract. O’Hare has been out of action for almost nine months due to an ACL injury, but Robins is confident that the club will be able to retain their most sought-after player before the end of his contract.

A fans favourite

O’Hare joined the Sky Blues on a one-year contract in August 2019, prior to the 2019/20 Football League One season, and was instrumental in the club’s success in winning the title. The following season, he signed a permanent contract with Aston Villa, and has since continued to make an impact in the Championship. To date, O’Hare has featured in 146 first-team matches, scoring 38 goals in his time at the CBS Arena, but his contract is due to expire in June 2024.

His contract

Upon O’Hare’s permanent signing in the summer of 2020, he was initially contracted for a period of three years. However, in January 2022, he signed a one-year contract extension which extended his current contract until June 2024, without the option to trigger the deal by the end of the current season. Consequently, Sky Blues will now have to negotiate a new contract for the attacking midfielder prior to the end of his current contract.

What’s been said?

Mark Robins commented on the O’Hare contract during his speech.

I will contact you when I have further information to share. However, it is clear that we wish to retain Callum beyond the current season. It is as straightforward as that, and we will strive to do so. I am confident that I have made this clear.

As a Sky Blue fan, I am aware of the importance Callum O’Hare has played for Mark Robins in the past. Furthermore, I understand that he is highly valued at the club, meaning that if and when he is offered a contract, I am confident that he will take it. However, following the departure of Victor Gyokeres in the summer, the Championship side are now facing a heightened level of pressure to ensure that their other key players do not leave the club.
