free agent signing available to Coventry City as injuries mount in key positions

Although the summer transfer window has closed, Coventry City are still free to sign new players. The club have declined to do so in the past, but manager Mark Robins will be looking at all available options as injuries mount for key players.

The latest casualty is star wing-back Milan van Ewijk who has suffered a “significant” muscle tear and set to be out for an unspecified period of time. That comes just days of the news that influential midfielder Ben Sheaf has been ruled out for a minimum of six weeks due to an adductor injury.

The Sky Blues saw a total of 11 new players come in during the summer window with 14 going the other way, leaving Robins’ squad a little lighter in numbers than it was last season. The manager wanted two more on transfer deadline day – a central defender and midfielder – but ended up with just one, with Barnsley centre-back Liam Kitching joining for £4.5million on a four year deal.
