Wolves have been buoyed by a crucial contract update involving one of the club’s heroes, as first reported by dependable writer Steve Madeley.

Who are the most significant players for the Wolves?
Gary O’Neil’s side has had a pretty bad start to the Premier League season, winning only one of their first six games and lying 16th in the table.

To be fair, some of Wolves’ performances have been more deserving of positive results, not least their performance against Manchester United last month, when they largely outplayed their opponents only to come away empty-handed except for an apology letter from the PGMOL.

A relegation struggle must be avoided at all costs, and for that to happen, all of Wanderers’ most influential players must produce consistently. In that regard, several players stand out, with Jose Sa a major figure between the keepers, Max Kilman a leader at the back, and Pedro Neto a genuine match-winner in attacking areas.

Now, a vital update on the future of one of Molineux’s best players – one who is poised to leave – has emerged.

Which Wolves players have secured new contracts?

Madeley confirmed on X on Friday that influential goalkeeper Sa had extended his stay with Wolves, with the club’s official update subsequently confirming the news.

“We’re excited that Jose will be part of this next stage and cycle we’ll be going through, and he’ll play an important role in that, on and off the pitch,” said Sporting Director Matt Hobbs. He’s enthusiastic about what we’re trying to accomplish, but he also recognizes how essential people in his position are to us.”

This is fantastic news for Wolves, as Sa has excelled since joining the club from Olympiacos in 2021, winning the club’s Player of the Season accolade.

He’s done a fantastic job, and while he’s had a few odd moments, he’s been terrific at the level he’s been playing at all season. It was a difficult situation to enter because he had large shoes to fill in Rui Patricio, who was also an amazing keeper, so to fill that void and then go on in his first season the way he has, it’s been fantastic for him.”

This demonstrates how highly regarded Sa is at Wolves, and the 16-time capped former Portugal Under-21 international will need to be at his best to guarantee that his club moves out from the Premier League relegation zone, aiming for a mid-table finish.
