Charlton Athletic’s winger is now set to depart the club in January.
Charlton Athletic winger Corey Blackett-Taylor has begun to spark a transfer battle ahead of the January transfer window, according to journalist Darren Witcoop.
So far, two Championship clubs have expressed interest in the winger, with several other clubs potentially joining the race between now and the end of the season.
Blackett-Taylor has made eight appearances for Charlton Athletic this season and has continued to capture the attention of the League One club.
During this time, the 26-year-old has scored two goals and assisted on three others while starting every game this season.
Who is curious?
According to journalist Darren Witcoop, Hull City and Swansea City have joined the battle to recruit the winger during the January transfer window, after both clubs scouted him in recent weeks.
However, due to the forward’s contract status (more on that later), it is possible that Blackett-Taylor will attract the interest of numerous more Championship and League One clubs in the coming weeks, particularly if the club fails to reclaim a place in the top six.
Improvement is required.
Charlton Athletic are now 16th in League One after a poor start to the season. The team has lost four of their last eight league matches and has only won two of their previous six in all competitions.
This includes a 3-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers last weekend, with Blackett-Taylor scoring one of the goals, and they go to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday afternoon.
Author’s Opinion
Last season, Blackett-Taylor scored eight goals in 29 games and has built on that performance this season. He is presently on pace to score 16 goals this season.
Swansea City and Hull City both signed many offensive alternatives during the summer transfer window. With Blackett-Taylor’s contract set to expire this summer, the competition for his signature is heating up.
