Portsmouth have worries about a crucial player’s injury after a red card challenge by Wigan Athletic.
Pompey are waiting to see the extent of Marlon Pack’s injury, which occurred as a result of Charlie Wyke’s red-card challenge.
The Blues captain’s fitness is a concern for John Mousinho’s team ahead of two home games against Wycombe Wanderers and Port Vale at Fratton Park.
Pack was substituted in the Blues’ 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic, which extended their unbeaten record in League One to 21 games.
Three minutes after the restart, Wyke caught the crucial figure with a strong challenge, prompting referee Will Finnie to remove him.
What happened enraged the Wigan bench, with assistant manager Graham Barrow and Pompey coach Jon Harley both banned – though Latics boss Shaun Maloney afterwards declared he had no concerns with the decision.
Pack damaged his ankle as a result of Wyke’s challenge and fought for 14 minutes before Mousinho decided to pull off the Buckland kid.
The 32-year-old underwent ice treatment following his withdrawal, and it is currently unknown whether Pack will be available for Wycombe on Tuesday night.
‘Marlon rolled his ankle beneath the weight of the task,’ he explained. He’s certainly tried to continue. I give him credit since I doubt he would have left on his own.
‘So we had to scold him a little and remind him he needs to let us know when he’s having trouble!’
‘Now we’ll evaluate the situation and see how things go on Monday.’
