Great: I was always certain that I was doing the right decision towns star revealed.

Toon-mad Leif Davis dreaming of facing Newcastle in the big time as he eyes Premier League promotion with Ipswich | The Sun

Leif Davis has expressed his excitement after agreeing to leave Leeds United, then in the Premier League, and join Ipswich Town on the eve of last season’s victorious League One campaign.

“I always felt confident that I was making the right decision,” the left-back added, “even if it was two leagues down at the time I joined.” I made the correct decision, and I’ve never regretted it.

Davis’ satisfaction stems from the Blues’ promotion to the Championship at the end of his first season on the job, as well as the team’s strong start to the current season, and he believes Town are poised for greater success in the not-too-distant future.

Ipswich Town LEIF DAVIS IS A BLUE
“It’s incredible how the infrastructure has improved since I’ve been here – the stadium, the training ground – and it underlines the owners’ commitment,” he continued.

“When it comes to playing, we’ve moved up a level and are more than holding our own in the Championship.”

“It’s also the fans’ club, and they’ve come out in force to support us.” What has occurred in a relatively short period of time is huge

When you think about it, this is just the beginning. “The club is about to rock.”

Davis is satisfied with his personal record this season, having missed only one Championship game, a 1-0 triumph against Southampton, due to an ankle ailment.

“I’m just trying to do what I did last year: help the team keep goals out and create some chances for us to score on the other end,” he explained. I’m not doing anything new. I’m simply trying to work as hard as I can while still continuing to learn in order to progress as a player.”

Brandon Williams became the Town’s 13th different goal scorer this season with his late point-saving header at Huddersfield on Saturday, and he confesses he would like to get in on the act himself.

“It would be great to get a goal”at some point,” he explained. “I got three last season, and I’m working hard whenever I get a chance.”

“It’s early days, and it’s a little tougher in the Championship, but I’m still contributing.” If I’m not scoring goals, I want to be assisting, which I’ve done.

“However, the main goal must always be to win games and score points.” I’ll do everything I can to assist the team in continuing to do so.

“And remember I’m a defender, so if I’m helping to keep the opposition out, making goal-line clearances or last-ditch tackles, that’s me doing my job.”

Town’s ability to come back from two goals behind has been a big component this season, and victories over Cardiff and then Wolves in the Carabao Cup last week were earned the hard way.

“I don’t know why it happens,” Davis explained, “but going down a goal or two seems to get us going and we start playing our football, which we obviously do.”

“We’re in a better league this year, with better players, and it’ll be like that in some games – more so than it was in League One last season.” All we have to do now is learn from it and attempt to prevent it from occurring again.”

It’s another demanding week in the Championship, with Hull visiting tonight and another top five side visiting Preston on Saturday, and Davis feels that he and his teammates will be put to the test.

“Both sides have started well, even though it is still early in the season,” he remarked. But they’re there because they’re good football players, and we never underestimate our opponents.

“They won’t be easy, and we’ll have to work hard for anything we get from them. It will always come down to us and how we play.”

Finally, Davis addressed the unique Portman Road environment, saying, “The level of support we received last season and this season, while I’ve been here, has been incredible.”

“Our home games are nearly all sold out, and we have a fantastic following on the road.” The travelling fans have also been fantastic, particularly for the previous midweek game at Southampton and again on Saturday for another lengthy trip to Huddersfield.

“This season, the fans have been absolutely incredible.” Every time I go out at Portman Road, I get chills, and for the Carabao Cup encounter against Wolves, we had more than 20,000 people in attendance, despite the fact that it still seemed like a full house.

“It is, without a doubt, one of the best atmospheres I have ever experienced.” They stay with you the entire game, singing at the top of their lungs, and they don’t give up if we go behind.

They’re having fun, and they’re definitely having an impact on what occurs on the field. They are constantly providing us with further motivation and pushing us forward.”
