Blackburn Rovers player ratings as duo shine in QPR rout
Here’s how The Lancashire Telegraph scored the players’ performances, with a six representing par for the course.
Leopold Walhstedt
Made a couple of good saves at important moments in the match. Impressive distribution under pressure and good handling. 7
James Hill
Looked good again at right-back. Didn’t give anything away defensively and almost scored in the first half. 8
Hayden Carter
Was given a tough ride by Armstrong in the first half but improved after the break. 7
Dom Hyam
Really good performance from the stand-in skipper. Rock solid and very good with his passing, which perhaps goes under the radar. Brilliant block to preserve the clean sheet. 8
Harry Pickering
Solid defensively on his return to the side. 7
Sondre Tronstad
Looked really assured in front of the back four. Kept it simple, broke up play and knitted play together. 7
Joe Rankin-Costello
Is this the start of a more regular midfield berth? Adds fantastic energy and quality in the final third, as we saw for the opener. 8
Sam Szmodics
Far more involved in a deeper number eight role. Had a couple of chances which he might’ve done better with but took his chance to add number six for the season. 7
Dilan Markanday
Worked hard defensively but was the quietest of the attacking players. Subbed off at HT. 6
Arnor Sigurdsson
Took both of his goals superbly. The first was a real poacher’s effort, getting in front his marker with good movement. The second, a curling finish from the left into the far corner. 8
Tyrhys Dolan
Scored his first of the season with a good poacher’s effort. Did well as the most advanced forward and worked hard off the ball. 7
Substitutes:
Callum Brittain (Markanday, 45′)
A threat down the right-hand side throughout the second half. 7
Lewis Travis (Tronstad, 60′)
Protected the back four for the final half-hour. 6
Andrew Moran (Sigurdsson, 60′)
Missed a glorious chance to get himself on the score sheet from close range but it did come at him quickly. 6
Niall Ennis (Dolan, 76′)
Good to see him back involved. N/A
Zak Gilsenan (Szmodics, 89′)
Unused substitutes: Hilton, Wharton, Garrett, Telalovic.
Referee: Josh Smith
Attendance: 15,376
