There had been a few clubs interested in offering the striker a chance after his experience at Anfield, hoping they could make more use of him than what Jurgen Klopp had done at Anfield.

AC Milan won the race and the hype around the signing was almost certainly too much. Things didn’t work out with the Rossoneri and after a season they looked to part ways… sending him to Nottingham Forest.

As far as the Series A club were concerned, that was that. Nottingham Forest agreed a clause worth €4.5m and the assumption was Steve Cooper’s side would be using that, especially given it’s relatively low fee.

However, the 28-year-old hasn’t been getting prominence since his return to the Premier League. So far he’s played just 58 minutes across four matches and the assumption is Nottingham Forest will walk away from a deal.

Calciomercato report that creates ‘a big problem’ for Milan, who gave Origi a four year contract worth €4m per season after tax.

The poor showing so far with Nottingham Forest won’t help attract other suitors.

Chris Wood sends two-word Instagram post to 29-year-old Forest star after mysterious celebration

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has sent a two-word message to goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos following Saturday’s 2-2 draw.

The striker bagged two goals to take his tally for the season to three. After scoring his first goal he appeared to do a mysterious celebration towards the bench.

It seems as though this had something to do with Vlachodimos. The Greece number one was on the bench once more and he’s still waiting for his Forest debut.

Wood sends message to Forest teammate

It’s hard to really describe what Wood did after he scored for Forest. He seemed to make out a wide ‘v’ shape with his hand and looked towards the bench.

Clearly, it had some sort of meaning and it clearly wasn’t an offensive gesture. Today, Wood shared an image of him celebrating his strike on Instagram with the words ‘My Guy’ and Vlachdimos tagged in the post.

The 31-year-old stepped up to the plate with Taiwo Awoniyi still out of action with a groin problem. He will now hope to keep his place in the team when the Reds go to Liverpool on Sunday.

Wood deserves praise for latest outing

Okay, so Wood missed a couple of chances at the weekend that on other occasions he might usually score. Still, the experienced player is getting into good areas and got his rewards at the weekend.

He deserves some credit for his form and his goals at the weekend. Yes, it was only Luton but ultimately they’re in the Premier League on merit and Wood can only play against the team in front of him.

As for Vlachodimos, he will be itching to get on the pitch for Forest. He’s yet to be introduced to the club’s supporters and he will hope to receive his debut sooner rather than later.
