Norwich City’s Josh Sargent is injured, and the Premier League
Josh Sargent is eager to get back on the field as Norwich City prepares to compete in the Premier League.
The American striker suffered an ankle ligament injury in August that’s likely to rule him out until the new year, having started the season in red hot form for the Canaries.
He’s been hard at work on his recovery, however, as he looks to end his injury nightmare as quickly as possible.
“It’s been very frustrating for me, with the way things were going,” he told The Pink Un. “So I’m really just trying to work as hard as I can to get back.
“It’s frustrating (watching the team), of course. I was talking to (fellow injured striker) Ashley (Barnes) about it, and it’s never fun watching our team from the side and not being able to help out.
“It’s going to be hard when I come back to get my body going, get into that rhythm. But hopefully I’ll get back as soon as possible and get scoring goals again, and help out the team.
”It’s hard to say right now, but it’ll probably be more towards the new year. But it’s going well.
”My wife thought since I was injured I’d be at home more, but it’s actually more time at the training ground! I’m getting in there really early and just working as hard as I can to get back.”
City presently sits in 10th place in the Championship, having won less than half of their league games this season. Sargent emphasized that promotion to the top tier remained the goal, despite the uncertainty of the second level.
“The Championship is pretty crazy,” he went on to say. “A variety of things can occur.
“If you look at the table right now, you can see that it’s only a few points away from the play-offs and a few points away from the bottom.
“It’s so close. We just need to put together a nice run of games, some good wins, and hopefully get back to the top.”
