Chris Olave, a former Ohio State football standout and current New Orleans Saints receiver, was arrested on suspicion of reckless operation of a motor vehicle.COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Chris Olave, a former Ohio State football standout and current New Orleans Saints receiver, was arrested Monday night in Louisiana on suspicion of reckless driving.
Olave was arrested for driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone, as first reported by New Orleans Football’s Nick Underhill. Olave remained in the Kenner (Louisiana) Jail as of 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, an employee there verified to cleveland.com.f a vehicle in Louisiana on Monday. (AP)AP
Kenner is where the Saints’ practice facility is located. The Saints told ESPN they were aware of the situation but had no comment.
Olave is in his second season with the Saints. He started five of seven games and leads the team with 471 yards and a touchdown on 39 receptions. Last season he finished fourth in the AP Rookie of the Year voting after totaling 1,042 yards and four touchdowns on 72 receptions.
Last Thursday he turned seven receptions into 57 yards in a 31-24 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Olave started for Big Ten championship teams in 2019 and 2020 and played for the Buckeyes for four seasons. He finished as the program’s all-time touchdown catches leader with 35, as well as third in career receptions (176) and fifth in receiving yards (2,711).
In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Saints selected Olave with the 11th overall pick.
