Update on Josh Allen’s Injury: OUT of Bills Practice
For the Buffalo Bills this Sunday, it will of course be “all hands on deck” as head coach Sean McDermott’s club plays at the Cincinnati Bengals in NFL Week 9. And for the moment, it is hoped the Bills have “all shoulders on deck” as well, with some mid-week concern about the health of star QB Josh Allen.
McDermott first announced on Wednesday that Allen, an MVP candidate and the offensive centerpiece of the 5-3 Bills, will be limited at practice due to a lingering shoulder issue.
But in the end, Allen gets a DNP, as he did not participate in the session. Allen apparently suffered the shoulder injury against the Buccaneers last Thursday night … though while it was obviously bothersome in some ways – like, trying to “high-five” teammates, for instance – the issue didn’t stop him from putting up numbers in the win as he finished by completing 77.5 percent of his passes for 324 yards with two touchdowns.
Bills injury report There does not seem to be any concern about Allen missing Sunday’s showdown game against the Bengals. … maybe especially because of the fact that this is a “revenge” spot in a playoff rematch though.
Last season, the Bengals eliminated the Bills from the playoffs with a 27-10 victory in the AFC Divisional Round. Cincy QB Joe Burrow finished that game with 242 passing yards and two touchdowns. Allen, meanwhile, had 264 yards and an interception. … all of it coming amid the emotion of Damar Hamlin having earlier in Cincinnati dealing with his life-and-death issue on the field. This time around, against the 4-3 Bengals? If the Bills are to avenge their playoff loss to the Bengals, they will need all of the emotion they can harness. And they figure to need all of the Josh Allen they can harness, too.
