Kevin Stefanski Confirms Deshaun Watson To Get MRI On Sprained Left Ankle
The Cleveland Browns held their first post-game press conference Monday where head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Deshaun Watson is undergoing an MRI on his sprained left ankle he suffered in the win over the Ravens.
Monday in the NFL is when you get all the latest news on player status following physical Sunday matchups and the Cleveland Browns, and head coach Kevin Stefanski, made his first remarks on injuries following the tough 33-31 win in Baltimore.
There were updates on plenty of key names but the one that catches everyone’s attention with Pittsburgh looming this weekend is quarterback Deshaun Watson’s ankle. Stefanski confirmed that Watson, who left the game in a walking boot following the win, will have an MRI on the ankle to gauge the severity of the injury.
The injury happened late in the second quarter on Sunday and forced Watson to leave the sideline a play early before halftime. He didn’t miss a snap in the second half where he led the Browns to a comeback win going 14-14 for 134 yards and a touchdown.
Stefanski confirmed they will have more information on the results of the MRI by Wednesday where they will update on several other key names nicked up in this one like Denzel Ward with a neck injury and Juan Thornhill dealing with a calf issue.
The ankle is another twist for Watson who is still dealing with the rotator cuff injury to his throwing should and is working to navigate his best approach to deal with that injury. Watson’s legs were a key part of the comeback win so any issues with the ankle will be well worth closely monitoring throughout the week.
