Raiders Legend Interested In Ownership Position With Team

Without a doubt, one of the best defenders to ever wear the silver and black of the Raiders franchise is Charles Woodson. The Raiders drafted Woodson with the fourth overall pick in 1998, and he spent the first eight years of his career with the franchise before returning to the team for the final three seasons of his Hall of Fame career.

In 11 total seasons with the Raiders, Woodson made the Pro Bowl five times and was named an All-Pro three times. He still has a lot of love for the franchise, and some would love to see him back with the Raiders in some form, and apparently, he wouldn’t mind it either.

On social media, Woodson recently praised interim head coach Antonio Pierce and how the Raiders are playing hard for him leading to a fan suggesting that Woodson join the coaching staff. But Woodson has his eyes on bigger things as he responded to that fan, noting that he would rather join the ownership group:

Former players joining the Raiders ownership group has been a theme over the past few months. Of course, Tom Brady has long been linked to becoming a minority owner of the franchise, but numerous obstacles have gotten in the way and a deal has yet to be finalized.

Someone like Woodson, who is so beloved and respected by the Raiders fan base and anyone involved with the franchise would be an excellent addition. He obviously loves the Raiders and wants to see this franchise back among the elite of the NFL and would be willing to do whatever he could to make that possible.

The price to get in on the ownership level is a steep one, but Woodson wouldn’t bring this up if he wasn’t serious about getting involved and have the necessary capital so this could be something to keep an eye on moving forward.

One thing that is for sure is that Pierce is reinvigorating this franchise so far. The players have been happy with the feel inside the locker room as things have loosened up and the Raiders are playing much better over the past couple of weeks.

At 5-5 the Raiders are right in the thick of the AFC playoff race and making a postseason push would only get fans that much more excited and Woodson would undoubtedly be as hyped as anyone.
