Packers Emerge As Suitor For Dynamic Jordan Love Weapon
Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers have begun the process of turning their season around over the last two weeks. While they still have a long ways to go to work their way into making the playoffs, there are major signs of hope for fans that had become very depressed.
After losing Aaron Rodgers via a trade to the New York Jets this season, the Packers got off to a very sluggish start to the 2023 NFL season. They started off with a huge win over the Chicago Bears in Week 1, but then ended up losing five of their next six games. At that point in the season, they sat with a 2-5 record and everyone began writing them off.
Over the last two games, the Packers have defeated the Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions. Both of those teams are good football teams, but Green Bay looked very confident and very dominant.
No matter what happens the rest of the season, the Packers have to feel good about their future. They are extremely young and Love is starting to show that he’s capable of being the team’s long-term franchise quarterback. Now, they’ll need to focus on putting more weapons around their young quarterback.
Packers Linked As Possible Suitor For Dynamic Wide Receiver
Speaking of adding more weapons for Love, the Packers have been linked as a potential suitor for an extremely dynamic wide receiver.
ESPN analyst Matt Miller said that the Packers should try to snag LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers if he’s available when they pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
“If I’m in the room when the Packers come on the clock, and LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers is on the board, he’s my pick,” Miller wrote in an NFL draft round table. “But this is Green Bay, and GM Brian Gutekunst would never take a receiver in Round 1. That’s too bad because when Love looks good — and there are flashes, for sure — it’s clear that the Packers lack a true WR1 who forces the hand of a defense. Christian Watson has talent but hasn’t been a go-to target for Love. Nabers, with his awesome after-the-catch ability, is an ideal fit for that offense.”
Nabers would be a massive get for the Packers if they are able to draft him. He has put together another massive season at LSU, racking up 86 receptions for 1,546 yards and 14 touchdowns. Standing in at 6-foot-0 and 200 pounds, Nabers would be an ideal fit for the offense and Love.
It will be interesting to see what the Packers decide to do moving forward. They have been non-committal on Love to this point. His play recently may have changed that, but no one can truly know what the Green Bay front office is thinking.
Outside of the quarterback position, the franchise will have some decisions to make at running back. Both Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon could be on the move in the offseason. Jones simply hasn’t been able to stay healthy and Dillon’s effectiveness has been poor to say it lightly.
Expect to see the Packers look to get aggressive in the offseason. They could end up making a playoff push, but even if they don’t fans should be very excited about the future.
