Texas target agree 8year deal worth $82 million

Jackson Chourio latest prospect to sign multi-year deal

What Will Top Brewers Prospect Jackson Chourio's Arrival Mean for the Outfield Mix?

Jackson Chourio, the 19 year old stud center field prospect for the Milwaukee Brewers, has reportedly agreed to terms on an 8 year major league deal that would guarantee him a minimum of $82 million. The deal reportedly includes a pair of club options as well as escalators that could make the total deal worth up to $142.5 million.

Chourio is the #2 player on the Baseball American top 100 prospect list, though he’s still not the highest rated player named Jackson, as he trails Baltimore Orioles prospect Jackson Holliday. Chourio was signed out of Venezuela by the Brewers in 2021, after after playing in the DSL that year, he made his stateside debut in 2022, splitting the year between low-A, high A and AA. He spent the bulk of the 2023 season at AA Biloxi, where he slashed .280/.336/.467 with 22 homers and 43 stolen bases. He profiles as a legitimate five tool player who should stick in center field.

Even if both options are exercised, Chourio would still become a free agent at the age of 29 if he plays out this deal. This gives him the benefit of obtaining generational wealth while also putting him in position to enter the free agent market, should he wish, at a relatively young age.
