Breaking: WR Set Reunite With Ex-teammate At Florida Gators

Former Wisconsin Badgers wide receiver Chimere Dike is in the transfer portal and according to Jacob Rudner, a beat writer for 247sports/CBS sports for the Florida Gators, Dike will be going on an official visit this weekend to Florida.

The Gators will be hosting three other players along with Dike. They are former Penn defensive lineman Joey Slackman, former PITT defensive lineman DeAndre Jules, and former Oregon defensive back Trikweze Bridges.

Dike is 6’1″ and weighs 200 lbs. Last season with the Wisconsin Badgers, he caught 19 passes for 328 yards receiving and one touchdown. Chimere Dyke averaged 17.3 yards per reception. Dike was the third-leading receiver on the Badgers during the regular season.

The two wide receivers on the roster who had better stats than him were Will Pauling and Bryson Green. Pauling had 66 receptions for 694 yards receiving and four touchdowns. He averaged 10.5 yards per reception. Green caught 25 passes for 375 yards receiving and one touchdown. He averaged 15.0 yards per catch.

Pauling is only a sophomore and Green is a junior. They both outperformed Chimere Dike this season as a senior and he will have one year of eligibility remaining after playing for Luke Fickell this season.

Dike is visiting Florida this weekend and it is interesting that there is a former teammate of his that is down in Gainsville, Florida. That would be former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Graham Mertz. Mertz played his first season with the Florida Gators and he completed 72.9% of his passes for 2,903 yards, 20 touchdowns, and three interceptions.

Maybe it is possible that Chimere Dike wants to reunite with Graham Mertz for next season and play for the Gators. There could be other suitors for Dike after leaving the Wisconsin Badgers football program. Wisconsin finished with a 7-5 record this season and Florida finished with a 5-7 record this season in college football. Will see how the visit goes for him this weekend and it will be interesting to see whether or not Dike will play for Billy Napier in 2024 or not.

Florida Football Recruiting: LJ McCray wins state title, visits FSU

Florida football fans are in desperate need of some good news this holiday season. The Gators have seen the departure of several key players in the transfer portal, there is still no movement on new position coaches, and multiple personalities on social media are in a borderline civil war.

5-star UF DL commit LJ McCray likely visiting FSU after winning state title game in Tallahassee

So, if you are looking for a positive, five-star defensive end, LJ McCray helped lead his Mainland High squad to a state championship yesterday.

He also has visits lined up prior to early signing day to two of Florida’s rivals.

Florida Football: Which way the wind blows

Mainland High knocked off St. Augustine High 21-19 in a thrilling contents for the 3S State Championship. Mainland won the game off a field goal as time expired.

McCray was credited with three assisted tackles but also caused several pressures to make life difficult for St. Augustine.

McCray wore Florida Gator gloves during the game, and when asked about his status regarding Florida, even though the Gators don’t have a defensive line coach at the moment, McCray says he is still “locked in” with Florida.

That locked-in status isn’t stopping McCray from taking an official visit this weekend to FSU and a visit later to Auburn.

It is hard to fault McCray for making sure he covers his bases. He committed to Florida football under the guise that Sean Spencer would be his position coach. While position coaches are prone to change all the time, it is within his right to keep options open if Billy Napier continues to drag his feet on a new hire or if the new hire is someone McCray doesn’t gel with.

Between McCray and safety Xavier Filsaime, Florida has to locked these two players to maintain any credibility that the class of 2024 is going to wind up being more than just DJ Lagway.
