Breaking: Two Lions Players Get Into a Shoving Match With Each Other

The Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears met in Week 14 for the second time in less than a month. And for the second time the Bears jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. With Chicago players fighting for their jobs and the Lions fighting for the top seed in the NFC, things got chippy early between the longtime NFC North rivals.

Detroit linebacker Alex Anzalone pushed Darnell Mooney out of bounds after a near-interception and then a shoving match broke out on the Chicago sideline. Multiple Bears players wanted to have a word with Anzalone and Kerby Joseph stepped in to try and save his teammate. That’s when he accidentally shoved Anzalone and the two Lions defenders ended up tangled in the middle of a bunch of Bears. Luckily they got out of there safely.

For a moment there it looked like Anzalone and Joseph were actually going to get into it, which probably makes perfect sense to frustrated Detroit fans. This felt like a team of destiny lately, but the grumblings have gotting louder lately even though they’ve only lost three times the entire season. Some fan bases are just never satisfied, but that’s just life in the NFL. It’s something Dan Campbell must be used to after all those years of nonstop success.

Matt Eberflus facing final chance for Chicago Bears signature win

The Chicago Bears will host the Detroit Lions on Sunday at Soldier Field in a game that will serve as the final opportunity for head coach Matt Eberflus to add a signature win to his profile.

MMQB: Bears' Matt Eberflus finally gets first NFC North win

The Bears have four wins on the season but considering they were against the Washington Commanders, Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, and a Minnesota Vikings team without quarterback Kirk Cousins or wide receiver Justin Jefferson; their victories do not carry much weight.

Eberflus has held up the fact that the team is 4-4 in their last 8 games as a token that things are improving for the team. The issue is that the Bears have proven the distance they still have to go when facing playoff-caliber competition.

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is facing one final opportunity to add a signature win to this profile amidst rumors of his job security.

That was the reason why the Bears’ loss to the Lions in Detroit earlier this month should still be the primary piece of evidence this coaching staff needs to be fired after this season. The Bears were up by two possessions with four minutes remaining in the game before the Lions scored 17 unanswered points.

The silver lining for Eberflus is that he has the opportunity to correct that mistake on Sunday.

With there being an uptick in the possibility that Eberflus could return for a third season, it needs to come with a signature win. Short of the Green Bay Packers facing the Bears at the end of the season with a chance to make the playoffs, Sunday’s game against the Lions will be the last opportunity for Eberflus to show that there is legitimate progress being made.
