Iowa CB Brenden Deasfernandes is in the portal
Iowa cornerback Brenden Deasfernandes is in the transfer portal.
The Belleville (Mich.) native has three years of eligibility left. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Deasfernandes missed time in 2022 due to injury and then came back and played in 13 games in 2023.
“Whether it’s one of the most known schools in the nation, or one that is not as known, the main thing that is important to me right now is finding a school in which the coaches whole heartedly believe I can come in and make an immediate impact on defense,” he told 247Sports.
A three-star prospect out of high school, Deasfernandes was offered by the Hawkeyes after they saw him at the Lindenwood Mega-Camp and then came to perform at their summer camp on campus.
He has heard, early on, from schools like Michigan State and Western Michigan.
Bock: Takeaways from Iowa basketball’s 90-80 loss to Michigan
Iowa basketball has lost three games in a row, as the Hawkeyes fell to Michigan 90-80 on Sunday inside of Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa has now lost three straight games, all coming by double-digits, and fall to 5-5 on the season and 0-2 in Big Ten play.
Ben Krikke led the way for Iowa with 24 points while Tony Perkins chipped in 19, but Iowa’s defensive struggles and continued offensive woes continue to haunt this group as it tries to get off its losing streak.
