Texas Lands Commitment From Elite 2024 4-Star CB Kobe Black
The Texas Longhorns continue to be on a roll on the recruiting trail, surging into the Top 10 after a hot streak that has landed them three five-star and two four-star commitments over the last four months. On Wednesday, that continued with elite Waco (Connally) four-star 2024 cornerback Kobe Black committing to the Longhorns He is Texas’ highest-rated defensive back commit in the 2024 class, ranking as the No. 4 corner in the country, the No. 44 player in the nation, and the No. 10 player in the state of Texas per On3’s industry ranking.
He chose the Longhorns over Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Oregon and LSU.
At 6-0, 190 pounds, Black played all over the field for Connally over the last three seasons on both sides of the ball. In fact, the Waco, TX. native was one of his team’s top offensive threats rushing 48 times for 432 yards and five touchdowns with eight catches for 281 yards and two scores on offense. In the secondary for Connally, where Black will play upon his arrival in Austin, he was also elite, making 41 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions,and three pass deflections in 10 games. In 2022, he had a similar impact, finishing with 36 tackles, two tackles for loss, nine pass breakups, and two interceptions – both of which were returned for touchdowns.
Defensive passing game coordinator and secondary coach Terry Joseph has now landed the fifth commitment in the secondary in 2024 between Black, four-star corners Santana Wilson and Wardell Mack, and safety prospects Aeryn Hampton and Jordon Johnson-Rubell
