Clemson Safety Transfer Andrew Mukuba Commits to Texas
The Texas Longhorns are on their way to the College Football Playoff on New Year’s Day in New Orleans.
But before they get there, they have earned themselves and early Christmas present.
On Monday, former Clemson Tigers safety Andrew Mukuba committed to Texas from the NCAA Transfer Portal, picking the Longhorns over the Oklahoma Sooners, Oregon Ducks, USC Trojans, and Ole Miss Rebels.
He announced his decision on X after visiting the Longhorns this weekend, allowing Texas to seal the deal.
Mukuba, an Austin native, is the No. 1 ranked safety in the portal and was a key part of a Clemson that ranked No. 24 in the nation in scoring defense, No. 5 in pass defense, No. 27 in rush defense, and No. 7 in total defense.
Mukuba ranked third on that defense in tackles with 42, to go along with two tackles for loss, and six pass breakups.
Over the last three seasons, Mukuba has played in 35 games, making 143 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack one interception, and 16 PBUs.

The commitment could not have come at a better time for the Longhorns either, with Texas already losing B.J. Allen, Larry Turner Gooden, and Jalen Catalon to the transfer portal, as well as Kitan Crawford, Jerrin Thompson, and Jahdae Barron to graduation/the NFL Draft.
Mukuba would be a natural fit into the Longhorns STAR position, which Barron has occupied over the last couple of seasons, which would fill a major positional need for the Horns heading into the SEC.
