OHIO STATE TRANSFER SAFETY TARGET KAMARI RAMSEY COMMITS TO USC

Kamari Ramsey, UCLA, Safety

Another Ohio State transfer target is off the board.

Former UCLA safety Kamari Ramsey, who made an official visit to Ohio State last weekend, announced his commitment to USC on Thursday.

Ramsey follows his former defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn in making the move across town as USC hired Lynn away from UCLA on Dec. 1.

Both transfers who made official visits to Ohio State last weekend have now committed elsewhere as former Cal linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr announced Wednesday that he will transfer to TCU. Of the three transfers who made official visits to Ohio State in December, the only one who remains uncommitted is former Michigan State defensive tackle Derrick Harmon, who has also visited Auburn and Oregon and is reportedly also considering a return to the Spartans.

Ohio State hosted Ramsey with hopes of adding a safety with experience to its depth chart as it faces the possibility of losing both Josh Proctor and Lathan Ransom after this season. Sonny Styles is expected to be one of Ohio State’s starting next season, while Malik Hartford and Ja’Had Carter are both potential candidates to start alongside him, but they would be the only returning safeties on the roster who played any defensive snaps this season if Ransom forgoes his extra year of eligibility.

Now, the Buckeyes will have to determine whether there’s another transfer safety still available who can bolster their two-deep and potentially start next season.
