Sad News: Raiders Fear The Worst As Worrying Update Emerge On Two Impact Stars

Raiders receive worrying injury updates on Josh Jacobs and Michael Mayer.

Raiders' Josh Jacobs and Michael Mayer

As Vegas prepares for its Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs, the latest injury report for both teams revealed that Jacobs and Mayer did not participate in practice on Thursday, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

Josh Jacobs is currently dealing with a quad injury while Michael Mayer is having problems with his toe. Additionally, Maxx Crosby was a non-participant in practice as well. However, he’s been playing through an injury for several weeks. Either way, none of this is great news for the Raiders.

Jacobs has struggled with injuries throughout the 2023 season. So far, he’s only accumulated 805 yards and six touchdowns in 13 games. But if he’s good to go on Monday night, then the Raiders run game should be in full swing. Meanwhile, Mayer has been rather quiet in his rookie season. He’s only totaled 304 yards and two touchdowns off of 27 receptions.

Considering the Raiders are going up against the Chiefs, they’ll want to be as close to full health as possible. This is a pivotal matchup this late in the season and it could be detrimental for Las Vegas if they lose. So, hopefully Josh Jacobs and Michael Mayer can be available for Monday Night Football.

Maxx Crosby, the Las Vegas Raiders star edge rusher, recently talked about his relationship with Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback, in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

Crosby and Mahomes share a competitive nature and respect for each other as competitors.

Crosby has sacked Mahomes four times in his career, three of them coming last season.

In a recent episode of VonCast with Von Miller, Crosby recounted that he headbutted Mahomes during a game after he laid down a sack on him, which ignited a competitive fire in the quarterback.

Though Patrick Mahomes is 10-1 in his career against the Las Vegas Raiders, he has formed an intense rivalry with defensive end Maxx Crosby.

With the Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs facing off on Christmas Day, CBS Sports dropped a hype video in a December 21 X post detailing the beef between the two Pro Bowlers.

The Raiders are likely out of the playoff race but an upset win over the defending Super Bowl chances would certainly help interim head coach Antonio Pierce’s chance of getting the full-time job.

Crosby has only beaten the Chiefs once in his career so there’s no doubt he’s going to be fired up for the game.

The Raiders are coming off their most dominant win of the year with a 63-21 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Raiders will be playing the No. 3 scoring defense in the NFL on Christmas Day (17.5 points a game).

In Week 12, Las Vegas got off to a 14-0 lead over the Chiefs but ended up losing 31-17.

Maxx Crosby knows how tough Kansas City is and isn’t expecting to have the same amount of success they did against the Chargers.

“All three phases of the game we dominated, and that was the result we got,”

Crosby said on the December 19 episode of “The Rush with Maxx Crosby” podcast.

“I’m not saying we’re going to score 66 points next week, but at the end of the day, we have to find a way to improve because we’re playing a better team.”

If the Raiders can upset the Chiefs, it would be a testament to how the team has improved under Antonio Pierce. The Chiefs have been a juggernaut ever since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback in 2018.

For the first time in the Mahomes era, the team looks vulnerable. The Chiefs won’t be easy to take out but this is the ultimate prove-it game for Antonio Pierce.

Beating Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium is certainly something owner Mark Davis would remember when he’s making his decision on hiring the next full-time head coach of the Raiders.

In the lead-up to the Christmas Day matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs, CBS Sports released a hype video on December 21, detailing the intense rivalry between Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby.

While Mahomes has an impressive 10-1 record against the Raiders, his clashes with Crosby have added an extra layer of excitement to their matchups.

With real playoff implications at stake, the game promises to be a competitive contest, especially as the Raiders seek an upset against the defending Super Bowl champions to bolster interim head coach Antonio Pierce’s bid for the full-time position.

The Raiders are coming off a dominant win over the Los Angeles Chargers but face a formidable Chiefs team with the No. 3 scoring defense in the NFL.

Crosby emphasized the need for continuous improvement and acknowledged the challenge of facing the reigning Super Bowl champs.

A Raiders upset would underscore the team’s progress under Pierce, presenting a significant opportunity as the organization considers its next head coach.

Raiders’ defensive end Maxx Crosby has talked openly about his beef with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes ahead of their teams’ AFC West clash on Christmas Day.

“‘I’ll hunt his a** down every time I go out there,’”

Crosby said after one encounter with Mahomes in a clip shared by CBS to tease the reignition of their rivalry next week.

Crosby and Mahomes memorably started their feud last October when the agitation from the Raiders defensive end caused the quarterback to ask the Las Vegas star to ‘Chill out a little bit.’

When that didn’t work, things got a lot more intense with Mahomes and Crosby engaging in a headbutt, face mask to face mask, with the Kansas City signal caller yelling, ‘I’m here all day!’ Crosby dove further into his playing philosophy against Mahomes and other NFL quarterbacks.

‘Quarterbacks, you know, every year they ask, “Who are the guys you don’t like to play against?” I want every quarterback to say me,’ Crosby said.

The last time the Chiefs and Raiders faced on November 26 Crosby sacked Mahomes once, his only tackle of the game. It’s been 14 months since Mahomes and Crosby got face to face at Arrowhead Stadium.
