Great News: Massive 4-star locked into future at Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs’ signee committed to Georgia in July and has not looked back since.

When Newark (N.J.) Bergen Catholic four-star offensive tackle Nyier Daniels wrapped up his official visits back in June, he says his decision to commit in July ultimately came down to two programs.

Massive 4-star OT Nyier Daniels locked into future at Georgia

“Rutgers, being the home town,” Daniels told 247Sports Recruiting Analyst Tom Loy at check-in for the All-American Bowl. “I kept getting the image from Rutgers that I could be the next big thing there. But I just leaned toward Georgia.”

In the end, the Dawgs landed a commitment from the massive offensive lineman.

Most interesting thing each Georgia signee said at All-American Bowl media day

Here’s the most notable quote each Bulldogs’ newcomer gave at San Antonio check-in.

Per usual, Georgia is well-represented in the postseason All-American circuit.

The Bulldogs had several in Orlando for the Under Armour All-America week. The same can be said about the next few days in San Antonio, where Georgia has a full group in attendance.

There will be seven Georgia signees playing in the All-American Bowl that airs on NBCSports on Saturday:

  • 5-star safety KJ Bolden
  • 4-star WR Nitro Tuggle
  • 4-star RB Nate Frazier
  • 4-star DL Jordan Thomas
  • 4-star OL Nyier Daniels
  • 4-star DL Justin Greene
  • 3-star RB Chauncey Bowens

All seven of those Bulldogs newcomers had a chance to meet with media during check-in day before All-American bowl practices.

Here’s the most interesting each of them had to say during media day.

Dawgs247 will be boots on the ground in San Antonio starting Wednesday with more in-depth coverage from the event.

5-STAR SAFETY KJ BOLDEN

KJ Bolden

On the NIL narrative around his recruitment…

“Most people were telling me I went to Georgia because of NIL. But in reality, I would have made way more money at other schools. I won’t say names out, but I would have made way more money at the other schools, more than I would get at Georgia. NIL doesn’t really mean a lot to me. I just like to compete. Probably like $3 million (annually). Crazy.”

4-STAR RECEIVER NITRO TUGGLE

On when Tuggle knew officially it was going to be Georgia and who was making him reconsider…

“Probably the day before signing day, talking with my coach. They reiterated what my role would be coming in. I was iffy about it, but I signed. Schools like LSU, they jumped on me late in the process. I was really looking at Miami, Oregon, a whole bunch of other schools, but they stood out. I would say, finished second for me, would probably be Michigan or Miami.”

4-STAR RUNNING BACK NATE FRAZIER

On Georgia’s 63-3 victory over Florida State in the Orange Bowl…

“That was a performance to let you know who the real national champion is. We lost because of a fluke. Everybody has their bad days, but everyone in the country knows who the real No. 1 team is. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing against. We’re playing a top-10 team in the country and beat them by 60 points. That lets you know, and we didn’t have some of our players players playing. That lets you know who the No. 1 team is. …It’s more than exciting. It’s unreal. Coming off two national champions, should’ve been three, but we’re on the same mission to get a third.”

4-STAR DEFENSIVE LINEMAN JORDAN THOMAS

On his impressions watching Georgia’s dominant Orange Bowl win vs. FSU…

“It just shows that they were definitely a top-4 team in college football. There’s not a lot of doubt from anyone that they’re top-4 for sure. They should’ve been in it, but not everything goes as planned. That was crazy. Kirby also showed that the opt-outs mean a lot to both teams. Georgia had opt-outs. Florida State had opt-outs. It wasn’t just one-sided. It showed a lot though.”

4-STAR OFFENSIVE LINEMAN NYIER DANIELS

On how Georgia beat out Texas, Rutgers, and others for his commitment and signature…

“I really like the coaching staff. I built a great relationship with Coach [Stacy] Searels. I also really like Coach Fran Brown who was there before, but it’s all good because he got to move onto bigger and better things. I just like how they do things and how they operate their whole system.”

4-STAR DEFENSIVE LINEMAN JUSTIN GREENE

On what made Georgia the easy choice for him…

“Just because I know Coach [Tray] Scott and Coach [Kirby] Smart, they’re going to develop me and put me in a position to maybe go to the league. If it’s not competitive, are you really working for it? It wouldn’t be fun if it was just easy, and everyone going to Georgia knows it’s not easy at Georgia. I hadn’t always thought about Georgia, but when you get down to the facilities and talk to their coaches, it’s hard to turn that down.”

3-STAR RUNNING BACK CHAUNCEY BOWENS

On making the decision to flip from Florida to Georgia…

It was tough. It was tough because I still think highly of Florida’s coaches. But I just had to make the best decision for me and my family. I mean, look at Georgia and the history with developing running backs. You really can’t go against it. Nobody else is really better at doing it, so it was tough, but it was the best decision for me. I think every Florida kid wants to stay at home a little bit, but me just making that decision was something I had to weigh everything. Yeah, I could be at home, could be with my family. But I’ve gotta put me in the best position.”
